Impact

The CIFAL Global Network’s Mission is to strengthen the capacities of government officials and civil society leaders, thus empowering them to advance sustainable development.

The CIFAL Global Network was created in 2003 as a cooperation model between the United Nations and local governments, as well as with other partners at the local level. For 2023, 20 years after its foundation, the CIFAL Global Network is comprised of 31 training centres located across Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Americas. For this year, UNITAR’s global network organised 422 events, for a total of 97,407 beneficiaries.

During 2023, the CIFAL Global Network (CGN) focused on expanding outreach geographically and thematically, increasing the number of learning events and beneficiaries reached. In line with this key objective, the CGN conducted 422 events, of which 103 were events with learning-related outcomes, and reached 97,407 beneficiaries.

To support CIFAL Centres by facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration, the CIFAL Mentorship Programme was created, including the active participation of the directors of CIFAL Merida, CIFAL Flanders, CIFAL Durban, and CIFAL Philippines, alongside the creation and launch of the CGN intranet, the CIFALnet.
