Geneva, Switzerland – Between 9-27 September 2024, 25 senior government officials from the Municipality of Shanghai participated in the ‘Science, Technology, and Sustainable Development Training Programme’. The programme organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and CIFAL Shanghai, offered a comprehensive platform for senior government officials to deepen their understanding of global trends in science, technology, and sustainable development.

Antwerp, Belgium – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Belgium (CIFAL Flanders) launched the ESG Frontrunners initiative, supported by the Department of Chancellery and Foreign Affairs of the Flemish Government, to offer a structured programme to help organizations navigate complex European regulations like the EU Taxonomy, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDD).

Mérida, Mexico – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Merida (CIFAL Merida) successfully concluded its XIX international seminar on hurricane preparedness, bringing together decision-makers from airports in Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean. A key objective of the seminar was to analyze and review emergency plans before the hurricane season to ensure that airports remain operational if impacted by a disaster.

Plock, Poland – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Plock conducted different road safety activations during the Plock Career and Professional Activity Fair. Employers, entrepreneurs and labour market partners, as well as youngsters participated in the Fair at the Orlen Arena on 18 April 2024.

Curitiba, Brazil – Throughout March, the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Curitiba jointly with the Education Management and the Social Responsibility Council of the FIEP Group conducted the “Girls in Science” project, which aims to encourage girls’ participation in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

Victoria, Canada – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in the City of Victoria was established in 2022 as a collaboration between UNITAR and the University of Victoria to deliver training activities and research that build on UVic’s commitments to the UN SDGs and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).

Manila, Philippines – the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in the Philippines was established in 2016 through a cooperation agreement between UNITAR and the University of the Philippines (UP) and approved by the UP Board of Regents.
